Winning the trust of corporate clients as a startup is no easy feat. It doesn’t happen overnight. And it can’t be forced. But it can definitely be done. That’s why we’ve put together the 4 key things that, in our view, made the difference.
1. We secured grant funding for our development – we invested millions of our own money and raised funds from both public and private sources for the further development of Verzuz. Our product solved a pressing problem that investors saw potential in too, and with them came the initial trust of large clients.
2. We didn’t pretend to be something we’re not; we didn’t want to replace traditional insurers, but to strengthen them – we were open about not having 30 years of experience, but rather expertise, drive and technology. We didn’t claim we could do it better, but smarter. We didn’t attack broken processes; instead, we collaborated on optimizing them and built partnerships. We helped digitize certain processes, make data clearer and improve the customer experience.
3. We spoke the language of numbers – technology is great, but corporations need a business case: data backed by numbers showing what we can deliver and, above all, how much we can help them earn or save.
4. Consistency was the key to trust – we had our share of growing pains during development too, but we acknowledged them openly with the client and addressed them proactively. When you sit at the same table with someone, don’t beat around the bush.
Today, our portfolio includes the 12 largest Czech insurers, the country’s top 2 players in used car sales, the largest brokerage company and the largest partner company for claims handling.
So it’s fair to say these 4 points carry some weight and aren’t just a shot in the dark – especially considering that policies worth more than CZK 1 billion are taken out through our platform every year.
