Floods are a recurring annual threat in the Czech Republic. Each insurer approaches flood risk differently, and their terms and limits can significantly affect how well clients are protected.
Here’s a quick rating of insurers in 2024:
Generali Česká pojišťovna Broad flood damage coverage in basic packages, fast claims settlement, transparent communication. Some clients in high-risk areas may need additional coverage for higher indemnity limits.
Allianz Comprehensive coverage for floods and inundation, fast response to insurance claims, high reliability. High-risk areas may require additional coverage.
Direct Covers damage from floods and inundation, as well as water rising in drainage pipes, plus the cost of drying out walls. Coverage doesn’t start immediately – floods within 10 days of taking out the policy are not covered.
Kooperativa Covers floods, water seepage into the sewer system and damage caused by rising groundwater levels. Some high-risk areas may require additional coverage for higher limits.
Uniqa Covers floods and inundation, including damage caused by sewer water. Exclusions apply to areas with high flood risk (Q10) and to damage occurring within 10 days of taking out the policy.
ČSOB Pojišťovna Extended coverage for floods and inundation with add-on options, including dam failures and atmospheric precipitation. Higher indemnity limits may be needed in some areas.
ČPP (Česká podnikatelská pojišťovna) Covers floods and inundation caused by torrential rain or the failure of a water management structure. Additional coverage may be necessary in higher-risk areas.
Each insurer has different terms for flood coverage. Choosing the right insurance can therefore make a significant difference to how well your clients’ property is protected.
